Minecart Tunnel

By Keith McDonald

To reach Level 3 in the third series, dungeoneers had to travel down the minecart tunnel.

In Series 3, the escape from Level 2 was via the minecart tunnel. It was the first time that something other than a wellway had been used to pass between levels.

The tunnel was protected by a weak forcefield, so players could not go through it on foot.

The second variant of the Mine, based on a handpainted scene by David Rowe, as shown on Series 3 of Knightmare (1989).

Dungeoneers needed help from somebody with them or that they could call upon. They would climb into the minecart and get pushed down the track by characters such as Motley or McGrew.

Once inside, players took what appeared to be a fast and bumpy ride down a compact, dimly-lit mining shaft.

The cart would crash at the end, arriving overturned at the entrance to Level 3.

The end of the tunnel's coming up and the cart just won't slow down!
