Folly, the Jester

By Keith McDonald

Known for his giddy laughter, Folly was the dungeon jester for the first two series of Knightmare.

Folly was a jester in the style of a court 'fool'. He is clothed in red and green with a fool's hat.

He appeared throughout the dungeon, from the very beginning of Level 1 to the end of Level 2.

Folly's role was to give clues and advice, usually delivered in riddles and good humour.

His clever wit helped some teams and hindered others. Teams had to listen carefully to understand his hints.

There's more wisdom in foolish wit than ever you can imagine.

Folly also shapes the storyline of several quests over the first two series.

On one occasion, he confesses his admiration for Gretel the Maid and his folderol abandons him. The questing team is tasked with finding it.

He also manages to outfox the belligerent Cedric in a battle of insults in one of Knightmare's longest scenes.
